Kevin VanGelder was our most recent scholarship recipient. He was presented a $2,000 check the day after he soloed. $1,000 was from NWAAC and $1,000 from David Hamby.
Kevin's Bio
I am a Student Helicopter Pilot. I have 31.2 hours in the Robinson R22 and I've loved every minute of it. As many of you are probably well aware, helicopter flight training is about three times as expensive as airplane flight training. But thanks to many generous donors, I've received scholarships from NWAAC, David Hamby and Portland Community College to help fund my training.
Although I am only 18, I will be graduating with a Certificate of Achievement in Web Programming from Clark College this spring and an Associates of Applied Science in Aviation Science within a few years. I am also hoping to get my private helicopter license by the end of this summer.
