N6931D was built early in 1957. This 150 HP Tri Pacer spent most of its life on the west coast. It has been recovered and rebuilt nose to tail. Everything firewall forward has been overhauled or replaced trying to remain true to the original. The exceptions are, the generator has been replaced with an alternator and the starter has been replaced with a Sky Tech for more starting torque and the radios were changed. It has been restored to the original colors, paint scheme, and interior upholstery design including returning to the original WW2 surplus gyro instruments. (Backward DG!) The original IFR radio stack was replaced with GPS, Nav-Com, Transponder, and ELT. It is based at Hillsboro. |

| Phil spent most of his flying career with TWA and eventually retired from American Airlines after it purchased TWA. Phil progressed from second officer, first officer, to Captain, and eventually Line Instructor and Check Pilot. Aircraft flown were the Convair 880, DC-9, MD-80, Lockheed 1011, 707, 727, 747, 757, 767 both International and Domestic. Phil intentionally returned to his roots with the Tri Pacer as it was his first light plane flight and started him on an entirely new career direction at Bucknell University and then Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. |
