Our airplane is a 1946 Cessna 120 it has been upgraded with a Lycoming
O-290D 125 H.P. engine.  My Dad and I worked nearly every day for four months
to repaint the airplane, re-do the interior, re-do the panel, and make minor
repairs and replacements.  We completed the work and took it for its first
flight on July 6th 2003 (the date of the photo).

Rick & Rob Farland's trip to Oklahoma - June 12th - June 15th, 2004

On Saturday the June 12th, our IA drove my dad (Rick), our friend Vance and
myself down to Boise City, Oklahoma.   It took 26 hours.  We made 4 stops about every 400 miles for food, fuel, and to switch drivers before we finally made it to Oklahoma.  We went there to pick up a Cessna 175 for our friend Sandy who was getting too old to fly it back himself.  The 175 had been sitting down there for nearly 2 years after engine trouble.  It had been fixed and ready to fly back a long time ago.  We had been talking about going and getting it for quite a while.  Sandy actually gave half of the airplane to Vance so that's when we decided to make our trip.  When we made it to the airport, we gave the plane an annual inspection and cleaned it up to be ready to take off the next morning.  It took us 11.9 hours to fly home.   We made stops in Lamar, Colorado, Torrington, Wyoming, Laurel, Montana, Bozeman, Montana and stayed the night at a real neat place called Hamilton, Montana right near the Idaho border.  The next day we made one stop in Hermiston, Oregon before we
made all the way back home.  The last leg of the trip was the best one
because it was nice and smooth and we had a 30 mph tailwind.  We were trying
to make it home on Tuesday morning with enough time for my rehearsal for
graduating high school, I was about half an hour late.  I graduated later
that night at 9:00!!!
