51st Anniversary Fly-in – Pearson Airport

Welcome to our 51st Anniversary Fly-in at Pearson Airport.   This was the home of our very first fly-in.  We return home again to Vancouver!  We thank you so much for joining us for this event.  The following is the information you’ll need to make your stay informative & enjoyable.

TO ENSURE THE FLY-IN CONTINUES AT PEARSON, PLEASE BE COMPLETELY FAMILIAR WITH SURROUNDING AIRSPACE REGULATIONS

If you plan on being judged, please put a colored dot (included in packet) on your prop tag and hang it on your prop no later than NOON ON SATURDAY!

Below is what is included in the pilot packet:

                            Pilot information sheet, prop tag, colored judging dot, airport lay-out, wrist band and membership form.

• First of all, Pearson museum has graciously offered to waive the museum admission fee to pilots (normally $7) who have flown in to this event.  The wrist bands included in this packet will provide admission to the museum.  Pearson Museum is open from 10 am to 5 pm.   If you need an additional wrist band for passengers, please just ask at the membership booth.
• Showers/hotel shuttle – PAGA (Pearson Advocates for General Aviation) is providing shuttle service to Marshall Center for showers.  There is no cost for the shuttle, as it is being paid for by PAGA (please tell them thanks) but there is a $5.50 adult or $4/seniors fee at Marshall Center to use their showers, gym & pool.  The shuttle is also making rounds to local hotels for your convenience.  They include the Comfort Inn, Hilton & The Quay.  Let the driver know where you’d like to be dropped off when you board the bus.  The shuttle will be running SATURDAY ONLY from 7:30 am until 6:30 pm.  If you would like to get groceries or anything else at Fred Meyer’s, they can also take you there, but you will need to let the driver know in advance.  Her name is Mary Ann Borcherding and her cell is 360-690- 6437.  Only call if you need to set up a Fred Meyers stop.  The shuttle will be located at the top of the steps on the south side of the street in front of the museum.  There will be a CAP member securing the location with bright cones.

Friday, August 20th

5 pm – 7 pm – Spaghetti dinner - $10 per person.  Dinner includes pasta (choice of 2 sauces), salad, bread and drinks.  It is located in the hangar immediately south of the Pearson museum.  There will be a Dixieland band “Earthquake Ethels” performing during dinner.

Saturday, August 21st

7 am – 11 am – Pancake Breakfast - $7 per person.  Breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, sausage & drinks.  Orange juice is 50 cents extra.  Breakfast is located in the hangar immediately south of the Pearson museum.

8 am – IMPORTANT PILOT BRIEFING in area immediately west of the Pearson museum.  Briefing will be given by Willy Williamson, Airport manager.  Please plan on attending.  All arrivals & departures must go smoothly if we are to continue to host this event at Pearson.

2 pm & 4 pm - Park Service Volunteers will provide a presentation/tour of the Spruce Trail immediately west of the field.  Signs will be posted.

3:30 pm - 4:30 pm - Car show by Concours d'Elegance will be featured on the field. 

6 pm – Awards Banquet & music.  There are only 125 tickets available for sale for the awards banquet.  The banquet will be in the hangar immediately south of the Pearson museum.  Cost is $15 per person.  Following the awards presentation, awards will be given with karaoke entertainment following.

Sunday, August 22nd

7 am – 10 am – Breakfast - Biscuits & gravy with drinks - $4

7:30 am – 8 am – Non denominational church service in front of the Pearson museum.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• First aid booth is on field.
• There will be food & other vendors available in front of the hangar immediately south of the Pearson museum.   NWAAC is sponsoring the hot dog booth next to membership.
• NWAAC items for sale include 51st Anniversary T-shirts ($15), caps ($15), lapel pins ($5), decals ($1), insulated mugs ($2), older T-shirts/caps and kids shirts that say “future pilot.”  
• Hay wagon(s) will be taking visitors around the airport to view aircraft.
• Children’s area is west of the museum.  There will be various free activities available during the fly-in.. 
• If you have a little extra time during the fly-in and want to volunteer for a couple of hours, please call Elaine Carlson at 503/465-9168.
