INFORMATION TO PILOTS FOR 2011 WILL BE COMING SOON!
Welcome everyone! We are so excited about returning to Pearson Field in Vancouver to celebrate our 52nd annual NW Antique Airplane Club Fly-in. The Fly-in is Friday, Saturday & Sunday, August 19, 20 & 21. There are no registration fees to pilots. After landing, please go to the NWAAC membership booth located just west of the museum to pick up your pilot information packet. Thanks to Bill Alley, Pearson Museum curator, there is no charge to pilots to visit the Museum while at the fly-in (normally $8). Your green wrist band (included in the pilots packet) will be your admission. If you would like your airplane judged, please put a green dot on your prop tag (included in your pilot packet), no later than noon on Saturday. As always, you are welcome to pitch a tent and sleep under the wings of your beautiful airplane. Showers will be available on Saturday only from 7:30 am - 6:30 pm at Marshall Recreation Center, about a mile from Pearson. Thanks to P.A.G.A. (Pearson Advocates for General Aviation), there will be a small white bus and driver available to transport pilots to showers & hotels. It will leave from a staging area on the street, just north of the museum. Marshall Recreation Center (where the showers are) charges $5.50 for showers or $4 for seniors , but this also includes the use of exercise equipment & a pool, if desired. Thanks to P.A.G.A., there is no charge for riding on this bus. For those of you who would like hotel accomodations and cab information, click here! As stated, the bus will also be making rounds to local hotels such as The Hilton, Comfort Inn & The Quay. There will be a spaghetti feed on the field Friday night from 5 pm - 7 pm for $10/person. ATTENTION - Fly-in procedures!
We cannot stress the importance of the following information. Being next to PDX International has posed some challenges that we hope have been overcome. You MUST have a 2 way radio and a transponder is highly recommended. We have specific approach and departure guidelines that need to be carefully followed. We will also offer a staging area from our clubhouse in Scappoose, where an NWAAC volunteer will provide any necessary information. Aviation fuel is also available at Scappoose if you'd like to gas up prior to arriving at Pearson . But, we want you to support Pearson and there is fuel available at the Pearson FBO 24 hours with a credit card/lock box. But, there will NOT be a fuel truck on the field.
